We first fell for Newbury singer/songwriter Frances upon hearing her previous tune, 'Grow', a beautiful ballad which forefronted those coruscating vocals of hers. Now she's teaming up with he-of-spaced-out-name, R I T U A L, for another low-key, but high-impact, slowburner called 'When It Comes To Us'. There's a hint of Adele about Frances, but that comparison shouldn't be strapped to her so carelessly; she lacks Adele's scene-stealing range, but makes up for it with an effortless charm akin to Rae Morris' sweet, smiling pop. To cap it off, the appearance of R I T U A L, and his richly textured vocal adds a dramatic weight to the piece, taken from her upcoming Grow EP. When the UK wakes up to Frances, there'll be no stopping her. - DC
